Welcome to Turn Styles.

The art and craft of woodturning allows for an unlimited amount of creative expression. One can turn different shapes, use the inherent grain patterns of the wood, or apply different surface embellishments in order to achieve what’s in one’s mind’s eye. I start with a log from a freshly felled tree, mount it on the lathe in one of a number of different orientations depending on the desired end result, and use hand held tools to shape the wood. It’s a wonderful experience to take a piece of tree trunk and watch the grain pattern come to life, and the shape evolve in real time.
